Federal Election 2016 - What You Need to Know

Well it's on and with redrawn boundaries there may be some confusion for we folks in Coffs Harbour as we now have two Federal Electorates to deal with.
This is the name we are familiar with but the boundary has been changed and now takes in Port Macquarie but cuts off several northern areas that were traditionally within Cowper - here's the map
So places like Sapphire Beach and Nana Glen that have traditionally been in Cowper are now in the electorate of  Page.

Carol Vernon is our candidate for Cowper.  Many of you already know Carol and she is a passionate and hard-working candidate.

Link into Carol via her website and facebook page.  Here's a little of what Carol has to say:
"I stand proudly for The Greens - the only party with long-term goals to care for all people, to plan for a secure future on a liveable planet and to protect the natural environment that sustains us."

Our Page candidate is Kudra Falla-Ricketts.  Young and enthusiastic, this is Kudra's first Federal Election and she brings plenty of energy to the table.  Kudra's website is a work in progress and you can connect to her via facebook too.

Kudra has featured in a YouTube clip urging young people to enrol to vote - they have until the 23rd May so must be quick.

The Senate
Your vote in the senate is critical and we are fielding a high quality team of NSW candidates lead by the indomitable Lee Rhiannon
If you don't already know Lee then find out more here. Lee is our number one candidate, with Michael Osborne as number 2 and Jane Oakley as number 3.  Wouldn't it be great for all three of them to be representing us after this election!

You may be aware that there are new voting rules in the senate for this election.

We will be sound economic managers.  Here are just a few things to consider:

We'd like to see the end of fossil fuel donations. a more humane treatment of asylum seekers, fairer taxes and better services for all.  We are committed to health and education and to our very precious environment with climate change our number one priority.

Want to know more?  You can find all our policies here.  please talk to your friends and family about them and help to educate people to vote on policies rather than personalities or promises - many of which are broken.

What can you do?  Volunteer to help by letter boxing, door knocking, handing out at booths and much more.  Volunteer here.  Donations from individuals are also welcome.  Donate here.  Finally give serious thought to joining The Greens.  We thrive through our membership and you'll be amazed to find that yes, you can make a real difference!
